The Oasis Lunch Club meets on a Tuesday from 12noon until 2.00pm and is for those in the local community who are mainly of retirement age (but others are welcome) and who value socialising with others. We begin with a home-cooked two course lunch, teas/coffees, (all for £3.50). This is followed by a “Thought for the Day” and a variety of fun activities or the occasional outside speaker.
A few people come just for the lunch, others stay for the whole time – all are made welcome by the team of dedicated volunteers who run the Club. You can see the programme elsewhere on this web site. Members come from all walks of life; some have church connections, some do not. Our aim is to provide a happy, welcoming, loving environment where each person feels valued and special.
Let me introduce you to the Team of Volunteer Helpers:
Lyn Walker - co-ordinates the Lunch Club and also cook once a month
Mary Dyer - co-leader, who also cooks, and is available if you wish to talk with anyone on a personal level.
Jan and Trudy - cooks working hard in the kitchen.
Gary Darley - welcomes people and helps out in a variety of ways behind the scenes. We couldn’t manage without him!
Jackie Darley - Gary’s wife, is responsible for the finances, and creatively leads activities.
Lynda Herbert - who helps lead some activities and also cooks.
Janice Rivett - helps with the cooking and in the kitchen.
Sue Ruddock - faithfully does teas and coffees and assists the cooks.
And my thanks go to various members of the lunch club who help in a variety of ways each week.
Do pop in and visit us. You will receive a warm welcome.
